Order Fulfillment

Kibo eCommerce enables tenants to control how a shopper fulfills items in an order, either through direct shipment or in-store pickup. During checkout, the shopper determines the fulfillment method to use for each item in the order, depending on the fulfillment types supported for the site.

Direct shipment

Using direct ship, tenants determine how items are arranged into packages and how those packages are arranged into shipments, and the client ships the packages to the shopper. After the shopper submits an order, the shopper can change the shipping information on order until the client changes the order status to fulfilled. If the shopper changes the shipping address, the system sends an email notification to the email address associated with the order billing information.

Each order can include any number of packages and shipments. For each package created to ship the order, the package items map to associated order items. After all order items are linked to package items, you can organize those packages into shipments and generate shipping labels to ship the packages to the customer. After all shipments are sent to the shopper, you can complete the order.

You can choose to ship different packages in the order using different packaging types and different shipping methods. For example, if an order includes three items but the product definition for one of the items designates it should be packaged separately, you can send the package with the individually packaged item using UPS Ground, and the package with the other two order items using USPS Priority Mail. You can define tracking numbers for each package shipped to the customer.

In-store pickup

Using in-store pickup, tenants can determine how items are arranged into pickups. Each order can include any number of pickups to be released to the shopper. For each pickup created for in-store fulfillment, the pickup items map to associated order items. After the shopper retrieves all pickups, you can complete the order.

Fulfill Orders

In Admin on the Main > Fulfillment > Orders page, a Fulfillment tab appears for submitted orders. You can use this tab to move products into packages for shipping, configure products for in-store pickup, obtain shipping essentials, and mark packages as shipped or picked up. To edit shipping option details, such as available shipping methods and fulfillment centers, go to System > Settings > Shipping. Refer to Shipping Settings for more information about configuring your shipping settings.
